Behind the Mantle

My sister-in-law Kim sat her necklace on the mantle in our bedroom. It somehow slid behind. I pried the mantle away from wall slightly and found these things dating from 1865. We can not identify anyone in the photos but it was nonetheless very interesting.

Our home is in Hagerstown, Indiana. It was built around 1835. I believe it best fits within the Federal architectural style although it has elements from other styles as well. Lynn and I (Nate) bought the home from the Bowman family in November of 2004. We have since had a daughter (Ella, in November of 2006) and son (Zack, in June of 2009). We also have three Siberian Huskies (Ambrosia, Nico and Rio) who moved here with us.
